Roger Eno SNAP Phonebox

For Roger Eno as part of  SNAP Art at the Aldeburgh Festival 2013 I built a phone simulator using an Arduino and WaveShield. Working with Ross Scrivener and Tom Taylor we programmed the phone to ring every 7 minutes encouraging the public to pick it up and when they did they heard Roger Eno’s specially recorded BT answerphone messages, archival sound recordings of Britten speaking, and fragments of Purcell.

This followed on from the previous year’s festival in which I build a device as part of Exchanging Worlds project where the whole phonebox became a speaker and played sounds of a resampled orchestra.
